Signing the Skills Pledge
Improving skills is a vital part of improving the competitiveness, profitability and productivity of businesses and organisations in Devon and Cornwall and the incomes and continued employability of the workforce.
Improving the skills of the local workforce is a key priority for Convergence funding in Cornwall
The Skills Pledge is a voluntary, public commitment by the leadership of a company or organisation to support all its employees to develop their basic skills, including literacy and numeracy, and work towards relevant, valuable qualifications to at least level 2 (equivalent to 5 GCSEs at levels A to C).
That is the basic Pledge, but organisations can choose to take it a stage further by supporting higher level skills.
The purpose is to ensure that all staff are skilled, competent and able to make a full contribution to the success of the business/organisation.
Proper Cornish Food Company, Managing Director- Phil Ugalde, joins the Skills Revolution. Here he signs-up to publicly show his commitment to supporting skills in the workplace". With Phil is Geoff Hale, unionlearn (part of the TUC) who is supporting this campaign locally, and Ali Cox, a Train to Gain Broker for Business Link, who will guide Phil and his Proper Cornish Food Company through the process of signing the national Skills Pledge.
