National Acclaim for Rosemullion Homes
After twice gaining national recognition for its work in the last six months, a Truro-based firm of housebuilders has picked up further plaudits at a prestigious architectural awards held in Whitehall.
Rosemullion Homes’ managing director, Roger Carson, was on hand at the Exhibition of Excellence to collect the certificate from the award organisers for the company’s Belvedere development in Truro.
Minister for Housing and Planning, Caroline Flint MP, gave the keynote address at the award ceremony.
Susan Casswell and Ed Tyack of Batterton Tyack Associates, project architects with Roger Carson, managing director of Rosemullion Homes, by the Belvedere display in the Exhibition of Excellence, which was part of the Housing Design Awards
Roger, who is based at the company’s offices in Lemon Street was joined at the ceremony at Banqueting Hall by Belvedere’s architects Edward Tyack and Susan Casswell of Batterton Tyack Associates.
The annual awards are organised by the Department for Communities and Local Government, the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA), the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) and the National House Building Council (NHBC).
“To be shortlisted in this prestigious architectural award is real encouragement to both Rosemullion Homes and Batterton Tyack Associates,” said Roger.
“Belvedere was one of a small handful of schemes of traditional vernacular architecture amongst a large number of modernist projects and to be judged within the best schemes nationwide is immensely satisfying.
“We worked very hard to create a development of authentic character and value at Belvedere and are very proud of it.”
Launched in 1948 as part of the effort to rebuild life in England after the Second World War, today the awards place at their heart the creation of places where people want to live.
Based just under a mile from the centre of Truro, construction of Belvedere’s 25 homes was completed earlier this year and only one four-bedroom home remains for sale at £449,950 freehold.
